Recap: Bonanza Bengals vs. Legacy Longhorns
The Bonanza Bengals suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 71-18 defeat at the hands of Legacy. While losing is never fun, Bonanza can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Legacy is ranked 32nd).
Legacy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laila Gines, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Gines hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Deshaya Hart, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Bonanza are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.7 points per game. As for Legacy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.
