Baseball Recap: Tippecanoe Wins Going Away Against Brookville

Tippecanoe had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 19-3 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Brookville Blue Devils as they made off with a 12-2 win. Considering the Red Devils have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Anderson McKinney looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Tippecanoe got a massive performance out of Preston Zumwalt, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits Zumwalt has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was AJ Jergens, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Tippecanoe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brookville only posted an OBP of .280.

As for Brookville, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-15. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Brookville's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Horn, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tippecanoe will head out to take on Wayne at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brookville, they will take on Valley View at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Spartans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
