Basketball Recap: Atlantic Shores Christian Takes a Loss

Atlantic Shores Christian fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Greenbrier Christian Academy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 38-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greenbrier Christian Academy Gators. The Seahawks just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Greenbrier Christian Academy was led to victory by Bayleigh Kaliher and Katelyn Balka. Kaliher almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals, while Balka almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Balka is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Livia Smith was another key player, putting up five points in addition to seven boards and six steals.

Atlantic Shores Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Greenbrier Christian Academy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4.

Atlantic Shores Christian has already played their next contest (against Hampton Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Greenbrier Christian Academy will be playing at home against Broadwater Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenbrier Christian Academy's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Broadwater Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
