Preview: Rossville Bulldogs vs. St. Marys Bears
After three games on the road, Rossville is heading back home. They will take on the St. Marys Bears at TBD on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Rossville posted their biggest win yet this season on Saturday. They put the hurt on Perry-Lecompton with a sharp 57-37 win. 57 seems to be a good number for Rossville as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Rossville found their leader in underclassman Jack Donovan, who scored 28 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Donovan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kameron Badura, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, St. Marys came tearing into Monday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wabaunsee 81-54 at home. Given St. Marys' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Wabaunsee is ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rossville's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for St. Marys, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
Rossville came up short against St. Marys in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 64-56. Will Rossville have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
