Basketball Recap: Beech Grove Takes a Loss

Beech Grove challenged Morristown. in a bug-themed battle on Thursday. The Beech Grove Hornets fell to the Morristown Yellow Jackets 53-47. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellow Jackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Despite the loss, Beech Grove still got an impressive performance from Mylee Boling, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 18 rebounds. Those 27 points gave Boling a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mariyah Marshall, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Beech Grove smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morristown only pulled down four offensive boards.

It was another big night for Nevaeh Sanders, who scored 20 points for Morristown. Sanders is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Emma Nelson was another key player, putting up nine points along with five boards and four blocks.

Beech Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Morristown, they pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Beech Grove has already played their next game, a 71-61 victory against Monrovia on the 18th. Morristown has also already played their next match (against Greenwood Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
