Football Recap: Kingfisher Piles Up the Points Against Bridge Creek

Kingfisher won the last time they faced Bridge Creek and things went their way on Friday too. The Yellowjackets breezed past the Bobcats to the tune of 45-12. The Yellowjackets pushed the score to 45-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bobcats cut but never quite recovered from.

Leading Kingfisher to victory were Kasen Blair and Brett Calamateo. Blair picked up 96 receiving yards and one TD, while Calamateo rushed for 58 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries. The dominant performance also gave Calamateo a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Collin Farrar was in the mix as well, providing Kingfisher with one touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Kingfisher proved: they limited Bridge Creek to a paltry 2.3 yards per carry. While three picked up at least four total tackles, Calamateo stood above the rest. He rushed for 58 yards and two scores on only five carries. Kingfisher's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.5.

Kingfisher didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Blair and Carter Stephenson. Blair got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Kingfisher now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Bridge Creek, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Kingfisher has already played their next matchup, a 42-0 win against Pauls Valley on the 26th. As for Bridge Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 39-18 victory against Douglass on the 26th.
