Baseball Recap: Archbishop McCarthy Triumphs

Archbishop McCarthy posted their closest win since May 10, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Deerfield Beach Bucks 4-2.

Archbishop McCarthy got a great performance from Jose Torres as he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Archbishop McCarthy is 2-1 when Torres allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 3-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Miguel Delgado, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandro Cabral, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Archbishop McCarthy's record now sits at 5-8. As for Deerfield Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop McCarthy will challenge Stoneman Douglas at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Deerfield Beach, they will take on Pompano Beach at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
