Baseball Game Preview: North Sand Mountain Bison vs. North Jackson Chiefs

The North Sand Mountain Bison will head out on the road to face off against the North Jackson Chiefs at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. North Sand Mountain will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

North Sand Mountain is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Ider on Wednesday as they made off with a 23-13 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bison in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won four in a row.

North Sand Mountain got a massive performance out of Luke Reed, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Reed is becoming a predictor of the Bison's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Stiles, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Pell City hit North Jackson with a 15-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chiefs came up short against the Panthers, falling 18-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Chiefs were not able to get on the board.

North Jackson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brodie Carraway, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

North Sand Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for North Jackson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

North Sand Mountain came out on top in a nail-biter against North Jackson when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bison since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
