Basketball Recap: Schuylerville Comes Up Short

Schuylerville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Queensbury Spartans, falling 46-18. While losing is never fun, the Horses can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 565th, while the Spartans are ranked 164th).

It was another big night for Shea Canavan, who went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points in addition to seven assists and five steals for Queensbury. Canavan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 33 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Blanchard, who posted seven points and four steals.

Schuylerville's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Queensbury, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Schuylerville is taking a road trip to take on Salem at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Queensbury has already played their next contest (against Broadalbin-Perth), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
