Basketball Game Preview: Maiden Blue Devils vs. Bunker Hill Bears

Maiden is 8-2 against Bunker Hill since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Blue Devils will head out to square off against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Maiden's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

On Tuesday, Maiden came up short against North Lincoln and fell 86-77. While the Blue Devils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 22-14 in the first quarter.

Despite the defeat, Maiden got top-tier performance from Ava Anderson, who dropped a double-double with 33 points and ten boards. Anderson has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: she's posted one of at least 45% every time she's hit the court this season. Willow Bass was another key player, going 5-for-12 to rack up 18 points and five rebounds.

While Bunker Hill didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They snuck past Patton with a 34-29 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Bunker Hill's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Maiden, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Everything came up roses for Maiden against Bunker Hill in their previous meeting back in February, as the squad secured a 67-24 win. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
