Softball Game Preview: Fort Bend Clements Rangers vs. Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes

The Fort Bend Clements Rangers will venture away from home to square off against the Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Bend Clements has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 28.

Fort Bend Clements came up short against Fort Bend Austin on Friday, falling 9-2.

Meanwhile, Fort Bend Hightower hadn't done well against Fort Bend Dulles recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hurricanes never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 20-0 win. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.

Jenise Tristan made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Baylee Bonner was a standout: she scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Alana Ou was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Fort Bend Hightower and bumps their season record up to 15-3-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Fort Bend Clements, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Fort Bend Clements might still be hurting after the 15-2 loss they got from Fort Bend Hightower in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Rangers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
