Basketball Recap: Spanish Fork Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jacob Johnson and Gage Christensen

Spanish Fork had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it four. The contest between the Dons and the Mountain Ridge Sentinels didn't end well, with the Dons falling 70-52. The Dons were down 65-39 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Spanish Fork's loss came despite strong showings from Gage Christensen and Jacob Johnson. Christensen posted 17 points, while Johnson put up 14 points. Christensen also put up a block, which was his first of the season. Austin Olsen was another key player, putting up five points.

As for Mountain Ridge, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points over those games.

Mountain Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Hatton led the charge by earning 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Spencer Dow, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Spanish Fork wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 61-47 victory against Hunter on the 9th. As for Mountain Ridge, they have also already played their next game, a 66-56 loss against Viewmont on the 9th.
