Softball Recap: Heritage Hawks vs. Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos
Heritage extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-18 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 19-9 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
Heritage saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Faith Latham, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
As for Cerro Gordo/Bement, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-16. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the contest before.
On Cerro Gordo/Bement's side, Maddie Gant was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and four RBI. That's the most runs Gant has posted since back in April.
Heritage didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 17-1 loss against St. Thomas More on the 13th. As for Cerro Gordo/Bement, they will venture away from home to face off against Arthur-Lovington at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
