Softball Recap: Golden West Extends Winning Streak to Four

Golden West had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Orcutt Academy Spartans with a sharp 12-2 win. Considering the Trailblazers have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Erin Fawkes made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Golden West let Hayden Oliveira and Reann Boyd run wild. Oliveira went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Boyd got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Boyd has posted since back in March of 2024. Rilynn Daleman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Golden West hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matches.

Golden West's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Orcutt Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9-1.

Golden West wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Monache on the 22nd. As for Orcutt Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Paso Robles on the 17th.
