Basketball Recap: Monahans Comes Up Short

Monahans lost to Seminole back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Loboes were dealt a 93-32 defeat at the hands of the Indians. While losing is never fun, the Loboes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1452nd, while the Indians are ranked 127th).

When it comes to explaining why Monahans lost, don't look at Jason Munoz. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-11 on his way to 21 points. Thanks to that strong game, Munoz now owns an excellent 46.6% field goal percentage.

This is the second loss in a row for Monahans and nudges their season record down to 3-26. As for Seminole, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Monahans is set to square off against their familiar foe Andrews at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Seminole will challenge rival Pecos at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
