Recap: Alexander Central Cougars vs. Freedom Patriots
While the Alexander Central Cougars couldn't quite beat the Freedom Patriots on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 23-point loss they were dealt last Wednesday. Alexander Central fell just short of Freedom by a score of 59-57. Alexander Central has not had much luck with Freedom recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Alexander Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chad Lasher, who scored 17 points. Lasher has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaheim Redmond, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 assists.
Alexander Central has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Freedom, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Alexander Central will be playing at home against Ashe County at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Ashe County is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Freedom, they will head out on the road to take on Hibriten at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
