Baseball Recap: Cleveland Heights Comes Up Short

Cleveland Heights extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-16 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hawken Hawks. Even if the Tigers couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

As for Hawken, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For Hawken's part, the team relied heavily on Jack Ruple, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Ruple a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miles Hamilton, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Cleveland Heights wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-5 loss against Mentor on the 20th. As for Hawken, they have also already played their next match, a 15-5 win against Shaker Heights on the 20th.
