Baseball Recap: Churubusco Takes a Loss

Churubusco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 4-1 to the Westview Warriors. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Churubusco saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dawson Gump, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Gump has hit this season.

Churubusco's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Westview, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Churubusco will challenge Prairie Heights at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.68 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Westview, they will face off against Columbia City at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
