Softball Recap: Russell County Comes Up Short

Russell County managed to slip by Clinton County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lakers lost 11-4 to the Bulldogs on Thursday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 4, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Russell County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brylie Hardwick, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Addy Abrell was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Russell County's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-11. As for Clinton County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-6.

Coming up, Russell County will square off against Monroe County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.43 runs per game on average), something the Lakers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Clinton County, they will be playing at home against Cumberland County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
