Baseball Recap: Turlock Christian Wins Going Away Against River Islands

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ben Holt College Prep Academy, Turlock Christian was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the River Islands Riptide with a sharp 13-2 win. Considering the Eagles have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Blake Starn was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Starn was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jake Dein, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cam Kelley, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Turlock Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Islands only posted an OBP of .250.

Turlock Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for River Islands, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
