Softball Recap: Southridge Gets the Win

Southridge's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Kennewick Lions, sneaking past 4-3. The Suns haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Avery Garvey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Constance Gates, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Southridge's record is now 9-4. As for Kennewick, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-9.

Coming up, Southridge will venture away from home to face off against Richland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bombers will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Suns surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kennewick, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Chiawana at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
