League recap: Coon Rapids' Shore delivers best pitching performance from past week

Northwest Suburban league recap: 5/30/13

Coon Rapids's Logan Shore was the best pitcher in Northwest Suburban this week. He won two games and struck out ten batters.

With a rough week, Champlin Park dropped out of the state's top 25 rankings. Champlin Park fell from No. 24 to No. 27 after going 0-1 over the past week. The Rebels are ranked No. 1,796 in the nation, and have an overall record of 9-6.

Blaine gave up the fewest hits in the league over the past week (seven), but the Cardinals have surrendered a league-fewest 99 base hits over the entire season.

The league boasted six .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Nick Caldeen, who hit .667 by going 4-for-6.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Shore, who turned in ten Ks for Coon Rapids. He's first in the league with 42 total strikeouts.



Shore threw a shutout as he led the Cardinals to victory over Maple Grove, 5-0, on Friday. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out nine, while giving up one hit.
