Baseball Recap: Chestnut Ridge Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Chestnut Ridge and Everett squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Chestnut Ridge had to settle for second. They fell 6-2 to the Warriors. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.

Justin Whysong was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run.

Whysong wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colton Boozer, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Chestnut Ridge has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Everett, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-9.

Chestnut Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Everett, they will face off against Tussey Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
