Softball Recap: Naperville Central Takes a Loss

After flying high against Waubonsie Valley on Wednesday, Naperville Central came back down to earth. The Redhawks fell just short of the Neuqua Valley Wildcats by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Redhawks have suffered against the Wildcats since April 13, 2023.

Naperville Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Lau, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Lau is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Meredith Cann also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Naperville Central's defeat dropped their record down to 14-11. As for Neuqua Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Naperville Central will welcome West Chicago at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Neuqua Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Oswego East at 4:30 p.m.
