Basketball Recap: St. John Comes Up Short

St. John lost against Macksville back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The St. John Tigers fell just short of the Macksville Mustangs by a score of 52-49. The Tigers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Diego Esparza was his usual excellent self, going 13-for-30 en route to 33 points and six rebounds for Macksville. The matchup was Esparza's 28th in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Carlos Ibarra, who posted seven points and seven boards.

St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Macksville, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

St. John does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Macksville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kinsley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Macksville is facing Kinsley at the right time seeing as Kinsley is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
