Basketball Game Preview: Gainesville Cardinals vs. Freedom Eagles

The Gainesville Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Freedom Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Gainesville was beaten by Osbourn Park 69-19. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, Freedom was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 38-32 to Potomac Senior.

Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Gainesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.

Gainesville beat Freedom 36-23 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Does Gainesville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Freedom turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
