Softball Preview: Valley View Spartans vs. Oakwood Lumberjacks
Valley View is 9-0 against Oakwood since April of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Valley View brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. Everything went their way against Oakwood on Monday as Valley View made off with a 23-8 victory. The win was just what Valley View needed coming off of a 9-2 defeat in their prior contest.
Haley Turner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off one hit. Turner was also solid in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.
In other batting news, Megan Coleman was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Jillian Shell, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.
