Basketball Recap: Bushland Takes a Loss

Bushland saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 45-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Silver Fighting Colts. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 449th in Texas, while the Fighting Colts are ranked 38th in New Mexico).

Silver was led to victory by Taylianna Castillo and Nyssa Torres. Castillo went 7 for 11 on her way to 20 points and three steals, while Torres dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Those 20 points gave Castillo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elena Arizaga-Morales, who posted six points.

Bushland has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Silver, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Bushland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-38 victory against Borger on the 27th. As for Silver, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-59 win against West Las Vegas on the 23rd.
