Baseball Recap: Kilgore Victorious

Kilgore came into Saturday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past the West Rusk Raiders 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since March 21st.

Joe Hendrickson and Cason Edney did most of the damage at the plate: Hendrickson went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Edney went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Hendrickson a new career-high. Tanner Beets was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

Kilgore hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Kilgore's victory bumped their record up to 12-17-1. As for West Rusk, they now have a losing record of 12-13-1.

Looking ahead, Kilgore will challenge Lindale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Rusk, they will host Edgewood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
