Softball Game Preview: Willow Glen Rams vs. Westmont Warriors

The Willow Glen Rams will face off against the Westmont Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Willow Glen's pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so Westmont's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Friday just wasn't the day for Willow Glen's offense. They fell just short of Live Oak by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The Rams' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Willow Glen saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Catalina Medina, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Westmont fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Santa Teresa on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Saints by a score of 9-8.

Maddie Tanaka was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Analeyah Vasquez, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Westmont's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Willow Glen, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 16-5.

Westmont's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Willow Glen has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Westmont, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 strikeouts. Will Willow Glen keep running through batters, or will the Warriors buck the trend?

Willow Glen skirted past Westmont 4-2 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
