Basketball Recap: Logan Tucciarone's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Torrington over Waterbury Career Academy

Torrington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 65-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-45 back in December of 2024.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Logan Tucciarone, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Tucciarone a new career-high in steals. Chris De La Cruz was another key player, going 9-for-17 en route to 22 points and five rebounds.

Waterbury Career Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jeremiah Williams, who posted 19 points. The contest was Williams' third in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Turner, who put up 12 points and three steals.

Torrington's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Waterbury Career Academy, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

Torrington has already played their next game (against Amity Regional), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-62 loss against Holy Cross on the 18th.
