Basketball Game Preview: Spencer County Bears vs. Owen County Rebels

The Spencer County Bears will face off against the Owen County Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Spencer County strolled past Henry County with points to spare, taking the game 62-45. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won eight in a row.

Spencer County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jack Armstrong, who went 7-for-11 en route to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. That's the most assists Armstrong has posted since back in December of 2024. Samuel Seawright was another key player, putting up 13 points and five steals.

Spencer County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Owen County had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They took down the Bearcats 55-38.

Owen County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for Spencer County, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.
