League recap: Llano rises in state rank

3A Region I District 8 recap September 10, 2013

Llano moved up to 606 from 725 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region I District 8. The Yellowjackets were able to make move up by topping Bangs 21-14.

Gatesville and University played the closest game in the league this week, with Gatesville eventually emerging with a 28-22 victory.

Burnet's dynamic duo of Derek Kiser and Cody Jones proved tough for Rockdale to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Kiser threw for 225 yards and Jones had 105 yards receiving. Brock Foster helped Burnet's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 34 yards.

The Bulldogs' dynamic duo of Kiser and Jones proved to be unstoppable against the Tigers, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Nick Barrios was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 158 yards on 26 carries as Liberty Hill defeated Rockdale. Teammate Hunter Lindsay added to the ground attack by rushing for 77 yards.

Kiser put up the best numbers through the air as Kurt Jones' team defeated Jeff Miller's team.

Jones was the best receiver in 3A Region I District 8 this week as the Bulldogs bested the Tigers.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Burnet's Kiser and Blayne Parisher have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Kiser has thrown for 387 yards this season, while Parisher has 6 catches for 151 yards. The Panthers' Barrios leads the league in rushing yards with 203.

Brownwood lost to Graham 56-15 last week, the largest margin of any game.
