Baseball Recap: Interlachen Finds Home Field Redemption Against Williston

There's no place like home for Interlachen, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Williston Red Devils on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-5 back in March.

Rodney Blackwelder was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Devon Williams was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Interlachen's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 10-2 (and 1-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cason Turner, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Interlachen has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Williston, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Interlachen wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-3 victory against West Port on the 11th. As for Williston, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-5 loss against Palatka on the 9th.
