Recap: Charleston Trojans vs. St. Anthony Bulldogs
If the Charleston Trojans were riding high off their 62-33 takedown of the Effingham Flaming Hearts on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Charleston took a hard 50-36 fall against St. Anthony on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Charleston has scored all season.
Charleston's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Oakley, who scored 11 points. The match was Oakley's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Bonnstetter, who scored nine points.
Charleston's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for St. Anthony, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Charleston will head out on the road to face off against Newton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Newton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Charleston in Illinois (Newton is ranked 91st, while Charleston is ranked 269th). St. Anthony will be home for the holidays to greet Richland County at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
