Game recap: Santa Fe High School Football Team defeats Bonita

LA VERNE, Calif. - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter, Santa Fe (Santa Fe Springs, Calif.) held on for a 11-10 victory over Bonita (La Verne, Calif.) on Saturday. The difference for the Chiefs was Christopher Mancilla thew a touchdown to Robert Campos.

After taking the lead on a Shane Pitts touchdown run, the Bearcats went into halftime with a 10-3 lead. The Chiefs took the lead for good with a Mancilla touchdown pass to Campos in the fourth quarter.

Despite scoring zero points in the third, Santa Fe still trailed by 7 points going into the fourth quarter. But eight points in the fourth helped SF pull out the victory.

The Santa Fe Springs school's defense chipped in with two points of its own during the win.

Campos was the top performer for the Chiefs. The senior wide receiver caught one touchdown.



Pitts made a difference for Bonita. The senior wide receiver ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to three on the year.

BHS's lone touchdown came on a 14-yard run by Pitts in the second quarter.

Santa Fe had struggled this season, allowing 32.6 points per game. But SF tightened up and held the La Verne school well below its season average of 34.4 points per game.
