Volleyball Recap: Incarnate Word Academy Takes a Loss

Incarnate Word Academy entered their match against St. Joseph's Academy on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Red Knights fell just short of the Angels by a score of 3-2. The Red Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Angels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Incarnate Word Academy actually scored more points across those five sets (113-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 14-25, 14-25, 29-27, 15-10.

Despite the loss, Incarnate Word Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kendall Stroer had 19 digs. Those 19 digs set a new season-high mark for Stroer. Abbi Koelling was another key player, getting nine digs and two aces.

Incarnate Word Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for St. Joseph's Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8-1 record this season.

Incarnate Word Academy has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Eureka on the 30th. As for St. Joseph's Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Lutheran on the 30th.
