Fruita Monument had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Lakewood Tigers with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

While Fruita Monument won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-22, 25-21.

Cambelle Brammer paced Fruita Monument's offense, picking up ten kills. Brammer got some help from Parker Clarke and her 20 assists. Brammer was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Despite the loss, Lakewood still got an impressive performance from Julianna McGuire, who had 16 digs.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
