Volleyball Recap: Morenci Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Morenci, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the San Miguel Vipers on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 back in August.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Morenci was: they took every set by at least 14 points. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-10, 25-10.

Rozlyn Funari paced Morenci's offense, picking up nine kills. Funari got some help from Leayla Mendez-Garcia and her seven assists. Justine Tartaglia controlled things from the service line, finishing with 11 aces.

Morenci is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-13 record this season. As for San Miguel, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.

Coincidentally, Morenci and San Miguel will both be playing Benson the next time they take the court. The Wildcats will head out to face the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Vipers will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
