Softball Recap: Hinckley-Finlayson Comes Up Short

Hinckley-Finlayson had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 6-7 to make it five. They lost 11-0 to the Rush City Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Jaguars of the 11-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Rush City, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.

For Rush City's part, Kendal Pillar was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Pillar has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalie Rood, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Addy Antonson was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Hinckley-Finlayson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rush City, they are taking a road trip to square off against Ogilvie at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.85 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
