Portland hadn't done well against Cromwell recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Highlanders walked away with a 7-4 win over the Panthers. This was payback for the Highlanders, who suffered a 9-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Gerry Hall, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ethan Wells also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Portland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Portland's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Cromwell, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Portland will face off against Old Saybrook at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cromwell, they will challenge North Branford at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
