Baseball Game Preview: Newport - Bellevue Knights vs. Eastlake Wolves

Newport - Bellevue hasn't had much luck against Eastlake recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Knights will take on the Wolves at 3:00 p.m.

Newport - Bellevue made up a huge gap compared to their last game against North Creek, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Knights fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 3-1 on Monday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brooks Kapfhammer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Julian Unay was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Eastlake entered their tilt with Skyline on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Spartans 8-1.

Eastlake saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rodrigo Montano, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Montano has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Kade Haroldsen, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Newport - Bellevue's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Eastlake, their victory bumped their record up to 13-5.

Newport - Bellevue came out on top in a nail-biter against Eastlake in their previous matchup on April 2nd, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
