Clarkson/Leigh came into Saturday's game looking for another win against Madison, but Izac Zautke wouldn't allow it. The Dragons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-60 win over the Patriots on Saturday for which the team can thank Zautke, who dropped a double-double with 31 points and 12 boards. He has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 16 times he's played.

Clarkson/Leigh lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tucker Matthies, who went 9-for-21 en route to 22 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kyle McMullin, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 boards.

Madison has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 59.0 points this season. As for Clarkson/Leigh, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Madison is taking a road trip to challenge Elkhorn Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clarkson/Leigh, they will challenge Oakland-Craig at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
