As for El Monte, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
On El Monte's side, Victoria Valdez made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Valdez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Naima Rodriguez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Julissa Flores, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
