The Helix Highlanders are taking a road trip to challenge the Mar Vista Mariners at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Helix is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.

While Helix didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Ramona with a sharp 7-1 win on Thursday. Seven seems to be a good number for the Highlanders as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Lauren Farace made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Farace was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nikaylah Domingo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ta'Tiannah Wright, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Helix was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .324 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Mar Vista came up short against Otay Ranch on Tuesday, falling 10-1. The Mariners haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Mar Vista's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Helix, their record now sits at 7-3.

Helix took their win against Mar Vista when the teams last played back in February by a conclusive 12-5 score. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Mariners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
