Softball Recap: Bayard Rustin Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Bayard Rustin took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Downingtown West, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Knights beat the Whippets on Wednesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-3. This was payback for the Golden Knights, who suffered a 6-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Ashley Falcone made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Falcone wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Wood, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Bayard Rustin's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Downingtown West, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-4 record.
