Softball Game Preview: Johnson City Eagles vs. Goldthwaite Eagles

Johnson City has gone a perfect 10-0 against Goldthwaite recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Johnson City is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Last Tuesday, everything went Johnson City's way against Goldthwaite as Johnson City made off with an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for Johnson City, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Emaleigh Davis and Bo Crownover made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Davis tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Crownover struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the first time Davis hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Davis scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Crownover went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Davis has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Isabelle Haley was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Chloe Clark was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Johnson City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.

Johnson City's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Goldthwaite, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-7.
