Northgate hasn't had much luck against Apollo Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Flames will welcome the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Northgate has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Northgate lost 17-2 to South Allegheny on Monday.
Meanwhile, Apollo Ridge made easy work of Shady Side Academy on Monday and carried off an 11-5 victory. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Mikaila Ditty and Jocelyn Snyder were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Ditty pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Snyder struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off four hits. At the plate, Ditty went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs, while Snyder went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Ditty a new career-high.
In other batting news, Julie Bertino was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. Madison Hughley also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Apollo Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory got Apollo Ridge back to even at 3-3. As for Northgate, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
