Basketball Recap: Lee Christian Starts Season with Win at Home

Lee Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They took down the Central Carolina Academy Eagles 48-30.

Madison Mashburn was a one-woman wrecking crew as she dropped a double-double with 21 points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 boards gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Craven, who went 6-for-15 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds.

Lee Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 16 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Lee Christian will challenge Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central Carolina Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-3 defeat against Cornerstone Charter on the 14th.
