Football Recap: Owensboro Catholic Starts Season with Win on the Road + How To Watch

Owensboro Catholic had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They secured a 23-17 W over the Bowling Green Purples.

Owensboro Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xavier Maddox, who picked up 119 receiving yards and two TDs. Those 119 receiving yards gave Maddox a new career-high. Miles Edge handled things on the ground, rushing for 85 yards and a rushing touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Owensboro Catholic's defense and their three sacks. Caden Conkright refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Owensboro Catholic got some further help from Conkright: he picked up 1.5 sacks and made eight total tackles (2.5 for loss).

Owensboro Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 34-2 victory against Daviess County on the 29th. As for Bowling Green, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 27-10 defeat against St. Xavier on the 29th.
